Dr Samantha Keegan is a UK-trained Consultant Dermatologist who undertook her undergraduate and clinical training in medicine at the University of Cambridge, graduating in 2008. She also completed an intercalated MA at the University of Cambridge in Natural Sciences (Pharmacology), obtaining her degree in 2009. She completed her postgraduate clinical training as a junior doctor in several prestigious South London teaching hospitals including Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, King’s College Hospital, and Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

She was born in Wales and returned there to do her specialist dermatology training, where she gained invaluable experience in skin cancer and skin surgery, working in the Welsh Institute of Dermatology, the only centre in Wales to offer Mohs Micrographic surgery for skin cancer.

Dr Keegan has presented nationally at the British Association of Dermatologists Annual meetings and won several presentation prizes during her years of training. She was a teacher and dissertation examiner for the MSc in Clinical Dermatology at Cardiff University and chair and organiser of the annual British Society of Dermatological Surgery trainee day. She is an author of practice questions for the MRCP Dermatology Specialty Certificate Exit Examination nationally utilised online revision resource, StudyPRN. She has multiple publications and contributed to a chapter on Bowen’s Disease in a book published in 2023 entitled “Handbook of Skin Disease Management”.

Dr Keegan holds an NHS substantive Consultant Dermatologist post at St George’s University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, which she started in 2017. She specialises in skin cancer, leading twice-weekly skin cancer screening clinics with same-day mole removals and procedures. She is the appointed teledermatology lead within the trust and has been the governance lead there for two years, where she has chaired regular departmental meetings. She is passionate about teaching and runs regular teaching clinics for St George’s University medical students and has been appointed as an educational supervisor to dermatology specialist trainees.

Dr Keegan consults in all aspects of adult dermatology, including Eczema, Acne, and Psoriasis. Her main areas of interest are Skin Cancer, Mole Checks, and Skin Surgery.
